The Free, Easy Way to Boost Reading Scores This Summer

Badger and Mouse readingStudies suggest that the number of books your child reads during the summer can make a huge difference in his/her reading ability. Reading four to six books will maintain reading skills, but reading ten to twenty books can actually improve your student’s reading and language skills. To help your young readers grow, come to the Orion Library this summer. Our summer reading program begins June 8 and is open to all ages. Kids can earn prizes reading the books they choose. Next fall, all that free, fun summer reading will really pay off!

I heard, after the kickoff assembly at Orion Oaks last week, that registration needs to take place online, but I am unable to find anything about it here on your site.

I’m probably not looking in the right place, can you help?

Hi, Bree. On the library’s home page (orionlibrary.org) and on our youth services page (orionlibrary.org/youth) you should see a big banner about halfway down the page that has four pictures in it and says “Summer Reading 2013″. Click on that banner, choose your age group from the tabs in the upper-left corner and you can register by clicking the button that says “Sign me up!”
Please feel free to email, call, or stop in if you don’t see the Summer Reading Banner on your screen.
