2023 was an exciting year for us at Orion Township Public Library. We expanded our collections, like More Than Books, with more outdoor games and unique tools you can check out for free (like a power washer). We started our new Strategic Plan to help reshape our future services. We updated our brand to reflect our more modern, forward-thinking, organization. And we did all of this while staying true to our purpose: We enrich the lives of Orion Township.
Here at the library, we are all about creating a space where you can discover a world of knowledge, connect with awesome people, or just come and get some work done. And that is just a fraction of what we do! Below is our 2023 Annual Report showcasing the numerous ways we served you last year:

These numbers are improvements from 2022. We saw increases per capita in almost all areas of the library's services in 2023 including:
1% more physical material check outs (books, Blu-Rays, video games, etc.)
39% more electronic material check outs (eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming movies and music, BookFlix, and PebbleGo)
8% more library visits
7% more program attendance
9% more PC users
29% more Wi-Fi users
Strategic Plan
We also launched a strategic planning process in January 2023. As part of the process, we devoted a significant amount of time listening to community needs and interests. We sent out a community survey, which 1,610 of you filled out, making sure your voices were heard. The survey results helped us to determine the following Strategic Plan Goals:

Over 4% of the library's service area population took the survey, with about 43% being under the age of 20.
So, what did you tell us? You showed us you place a high value on physical materials, getting help from staff, using the library to work and study, and accessing digital materials. We hear you and we plan to let this feedback guide us as we look to the future.
Using the Strategic Planning Goals as our cornerstone, and the 2023 Annual Report data as building blocks, the Orion Township Public Library will be able to better serve everyone in our community.
2024 and Beyond...
We could not have had such a stellar 2023 without your support. We thank you for your continued patronage and feedback so we can evolve and grow with the community we serve. We promise to provide the best possible services, collections, programs, and more for you and we cannot achieve this without your input, your passion, or your help.
