Orion flourished as a resort town when the DUR came to the area. The electric railway brought visitors beginning in 1900 until 1931. A round trip ticket from Detroit to Orion cost $0.50 and printed schedules announced departure times every half hour. Track beds are still visible along Orion’s countryside.
