Pioneers from New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey came to settle the Orion area since 1819. The first Township meeting was held April 5th, 1835. Needham Hemingway, Jesse Decker, Samual Munson, Philip and Jacob Bigler, and Ira Carpenter were some of the founding families.
