Michigan adopted the state flag in 1911. It states that “the state flag shall be blue with the arms of the state.” The pledge of allegiance was adopted in 1972 and states: I pledge allegiance to the flag of Michigan, and to the state for which it stands, two beautiful peninsulas united by a bridge of steel, where equal opportunity and justice for all is our ideal.”
